Better than Oats
Chia porridge works just like a bowl of oats or a thickener for smoothies. Chia seeds work best in meals when they are soaked in a liquid, which makes a highly nutritional porridge or works as a binding agent for smoothies. Chia seeds are gluten-free and high in protein (18g/100g), making them a much better food source for low-carb dieters than oats.
This breakfast is a great low-carb, high fibre fuel source for the energy you need to go on with your day.
Warm yourself up with the baked version of our Chia Seed porridge recipe. It works very similarly to a bowl of oats – giving you a warm porridge mixture that can be flavoured directly within the mixture and is enjoyed best with toppings.
2.5 cups of liquid (almond milk or water)
½ cup chia seeds
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp pure honey
Mix chia seeds, liquid and sweeteners
Whisk well until no clumps are left
Leave the mixture to thicken for 10 – 20 minutes depending on preference
Heat mixture on the stove, while stirring continuously for 5 minutes or until the mixture has begun to thicken
Serve in bowls with desired toppings (our favourite is banana)
Cool & Refreshing
Start your day with the cool and refreshing berry and chia porridge. Similar to a smoothie bowl, you can flavour the chia seed mixture with honey and spices, then add toppings such as blended frozen berries.
2,5 cup liquid (almond milk or water)
1/2 cup chia seeds
2 tsp honey
¼ cup blueberries
¼ cup strawberries
Mix chia seeds and liquid until no clumps are left and let sit for 10 mins
Stir again once the mixture starts to thicken, then cover the mixture and cool in the fridge overnight (minimum 1 hour)
Blend honey, strawberries, and blueberries to a paste
Stir chia pudding mix thoroughly and add flavourings before serving.
